FAQs for Gershwin Theatre
What time should I arrive for the show?
Doors open 45 minutes before showtime. Arriving at least 30 minutes early allows time for security checks and finding your seat. Late arrivals wait in the lobby until an appropriate break in the performance.
Is there a dress code?
No formal dress code. Wear something comfortable and appropriate for a Broadway show. The theater is air-conditioned, so a sweater or light jacket helps if you get cold easily.
Can I bring food or drinks inside?
Outside food and drinks are not allowed. Bars on multiple levels serve snacks and beverages before the show and at intermission. Bottled water and drinks with secure lids are permitted in the auditorium.
Is the Gershwin Theatre wheelchair accessible?
Yes. Accessible seating is available in all sections of the theater.
Are animals allowed inside?
Animals aren’t permitted in the theater, though exceptions are made for guide dogs and service animals.
Are shows suitable for people with hearing or vision impairments?
Yes! Assistive devices are available free of charge. These include hand-held captioning for deaf or hard-of-hearing guests and audio description for blind or visually impaired guests. The Induction Loop System allows patrons with telecoil-equipped hearing aids to receive direct audio transmission. Just switch your device to “T” mode to connect or ask an usher if you need help.
What happens if a lead actor is replaced?
Like all Broadway productions, cast changes happen due to illness or scheduling. Refunds or exchanges are not provided for replacements.
