Wicked at Gershwin Theatre

It’s no easy feat for a musical to descend upon Broadway and scoop up three Tony Awards, seven Drama Desk Awards, and a Grammy Award for the original cast album, but Wicked’s done it. No musical just smashes box office records, while placing among the greatest productions that grossed over $1 billion, and later taking the place of the world’s second-highest selling musical, but Wicked has. It’s pretty much a fact: Wicked simply keeps defying gravity.

The truth is that Wicked has everything any musical-lover could ever dream of. The enchanting story, based upon L. Frank Baum's classic novel, ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’, follows the trials and tribulations of two witches, Elphaba and Glinda, before and after Dorothy’s arrival in Oz. With a deep exploration of an unlikely friendship between two very different personalities, clashing frames of reference, and a shared love interest, and the subtextual corrupt rule of the Wizard of Oz threatening to tear a perfect world apart, everybody and anybody is bound to be pulled deep into the smart storyline, wonderful theatrics, nuanced and interesting characters, and, of course, composer Stephen Schwartz’s incredible score.

The fact is that the audience will be left totally ‘bewitched’|an entire audience will leave the Gershwin Theatre, feeling that saying that it was nice, would be an understatementsimply wouldn’t cut it.

Wicked is simply dazzling from the get-go, and you’ll fall head over heels for it!
