The musical that took Broadway by storm for years and years is headed to New York, New York, and you don't want to skip out this experience! Wicked is setting up shop at Gershwin Theatre for a short while, and one of those nights just so happens to be on Tuesday 15th July 2025.

Stephen Schartz’s brilliance and aptitude breach generation gaps, from beloved Disney films to pure Broadway magic. The hit-making virtuoso who brought Godspell and Pippin to the world has now breathed life into audience-favorite Wicked, which comes to Gershwin Theatre for the summer playbill.
Wicked cleverly combines political themes, distinctive heroes, and unexpected tenderness within a medley of catchy showtunes!
The plot follows Elphaba, the illegitimate daughter of the wife of Munchkinland’s governor. Despite her familial and identity issues, Elphaba makes it into the respected Shiz University, where she rooms with social butterfly Galinda. Two complete opposites hardly get along at first but soon befriend.
Unfortunately, things go downhill when Elphaba notices heinous crimes against the Animals, a sentient race often tormented by persecution. Galinda and Elphaba seek the Wizard for help, but the Wizard unfortunately offers little assistance. A disillusioned Elphaba leaves the Emerald City to fight for justice for the Animals, leaving everything else behind.
Meanwhile, Galinda - known as Glinda - climbs the social ladder, marries Fiyero, the Captain of the Guard, and pursues an influential lifestyle. Elphaba returns and accidently earns Fiyero’s heart as he falls in love with her. Will the couple’s love flourish unburdened, or will Elphaba’s mission for justice push Fiyero away, distance her from friends, and kill her?
Wicked kicked off its first live performance in 2003 at San Francisco’s Curran Theatre. As its influence spread, it made its way into new theatres year after year, achieving international acclaim with performances in London, Ireland, Mexico, Germany, and even Australia. Its capacity to bring in audiences also inspired Hollywood producers to release a two-part motion picture based on the Broadway show, that released November 2024.
Wicked earned numerous awards during its prime in the 2000s, including Two Drama Desk Awards for Outstanding Musical and Outstanding Lyrics, three Tony awards, and a Grammy award for Best Musical Theater Album.
